Jar Jar Binks was the antithesis of the good sidekick role played by Chewbacca in the original films. He was easily frightened, overly dramatic, and spoke in possibly racist tones. His character added little to the story, and failed at comedy. His character didn't mesh well with anyone else. in fact, it felt like he belonged in a different film altogether. From claiming that he will die the moment his transport shuts down in the planet core, to using his long tongue to take food on Tattooine, Binks is the walking manifestation of childishness and sheer stupidity in the Star Wars prequels. Yet in the end he is portrayed as some kind of hero; the kind that manages to win the end through sheer dumb luck, and turning his main character flaw (clumsiness) into a positive. To make things worse, Jar Jar Binks, who was quite possibly the most incompetent character in Star Wars history and whose sole purpose was to sell Star Wars merchandise to the youngest of viewers, became a senator on Coruscant. Take that for what you will.
