10 Dumbest Things In The Worst Summer Movie Season Ever

4. Terry Crews Spends Most Of The Movie In The Hospital - The Expendables 3

The Scene: In the first act of EX3, Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) is badly wounded by villain Conrad Stonebanks, putting him in the hospital by the 30-minute mark. He doesn't appear again outside of the hospital until the final scene, where the gang reunites at a bar. Why It's Dumb: Because Terry Crews is a total bada**, that's why. His AA-12 scene from the first film, in which he demolishes a fleet of soldiers who had the Expendables pinned down, was easily the coolest moment from any of the movies, and his banter with Arnie in the second movie was totally hilarious (after handing the AA-12 to him, Caesar says, "If I don't get this back, your a** is terminated.") So why, then, would he be given such a small part in EX3? Caesar's easily one of the most likeable and tough members of the team, so if they were going to sideline anyone, wouldn't it make sense to make it the much older Dolph Lundgren or, more likely, the rather character-less Randy Couture? This and other silly creative decisions like it (namely that damn PG-13 rating) are exactly why The Expendables 3 bombed with both audiences and critics.
