10 Dumbest Things In The Worst Summer Movie Season Ever
3. Lucy Hits 100% - Lucy
The Scene: Just as Lucy (Scarlett Johansson) is about to be shot by the villainous Mr. Jang (Choi Min-sik), her mental capacity reaches 100% and she promptly disappears, apparently into the space time continuum. A strange supercomputer left behind disintegrates while offering up a flash drive to Dr. Norman (Morgan Freeman) that would advance his research, and as Lucy's whereabouts is pondered, police officer Del Rio's phone receives a message, declaring, "I am everywhere." Why It's Dumb: We get it, Luc Besson wasn't merely interested in making a straight-forward action flick about Scarlett Johansson essentially becoming Neo, but this was just a little too ridiculous for us. So, Lucy is now immortal, is basically beyond reproach and able to pretty much do whatever she wants in whatever form she wants, but to be honest, we're still not exactly sold on a human being equipped with 100% brain power having the capability to alter matter and do, well, everything that Lucy does in the film. Plenty of people linger on the idiocy of the film's 10% gimmick, but really, the stupidity rests in the illogical journey Besson takes both Lucy and the audience on. Rather than nail the poignancy Besson was clearly striving for, he arrived at a conclusion that was merely unintentionally hilarious.
