5. Quarantine

As we move in to the top five of the list, we look at films that dont just give away plot spoilers, but flat out ruin the films denouement. Quarantine is one of the irritating English language remakes of films that were already relative success in English speaking territories. Unlike more well known examples Let Me In or The Ring, its original is a much weaker, cheaper looking film, but at least it had a sense of ingenuity and intent; Quarantine was almost shot for shot identical to , but without the Spanish films innovation. But the remakes biggest crime was in both its poster/DVD campaign. By the nature of the handheld camera, theres obvious little spectacle to focus on. However, I think everyone would agree that is no excuse for using a films final scene as the centre of an advertising campaign. That shot of a woman being dragged away? Thats the very final shot. You could argue s existence meant that it was assumed people wouldnt be too surprised, but when the reason you're making a film is to make up for the lack of English its fair to say your target audience are unlikely to have seen the original. Knowing that the woman will be dragged off screaming essentially means the audience know exactly where the film is going the characters were some of the films only true bits of originality.
