5. Backseat

Adam McKay's follow-up to his Oscar-winning - and Best Picture-nominated - The Big Short is a biopic of former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, with Christian Bale once again turning himself virtually unrecognisable for his art.

He's joined by the likes of Amy Adams (Lynne Cheney), Steve Carell (Donald Rumsfeld), Sam Rockwell (George W. Bush), Bill Pullman (Nelson Rockerfeller) and Alison Pill (Mary Cheney) among others, in what's sure to be a movie both hilarious and wince-inducing.

If McKay can capture just a fraction of the witty magic that made The Big Short such a delight, Backseat should end up a lock for a Best Picture nod.
