5. Captain America (1990)
Starring: Matt Salinger For a direct to video movie, this 1990 take on the Captain America story, which took some liberties but featured most of the recognisable features of the Rogers/Cap story, including freezing, super-soldier experiments and Red Skull, was actually not all that terrible. But it is a matter of relativity of course - the costumes and artistic design were fairly reasonable, despite the quality of the rest of the film, its direction and acting. In Salinger, the film also had a pretty good Cap (though he was pretty grumpy) - he certainly looked the part anyway - but it was somewhat hamstrung from the very outset thanks to the man in the director's chair: the "legendary" Albert Pyun, who sometimes makes Ed Wood look like Alfred Hitchcock. We should really be thankfully that more of the early 90s action movie directors didn't decide to try and make comic book movies... http://youtu.be/cs8rFsmhNTc
