10 Emotional Movie Scenes That Will Make You Cry

6. Luke And Leia's Reunion - Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Speaking of movies which bid a sad, unexpectedly early farewell to a pivotal star, we can scarcely overlook the recent big screen swansong of late, great Carrie Fisher.

It's well established that Star Wars: The Last Jedi was extremely divisive. Some felt Rian Johnson's film was bold, taking genuine risks that paid off; others felt it was a betrayal of the series.

Whichever side of the fence you fall on, though, surely we all stand united in having taken our seats with a preemptive lump in the throat, knowing we were sitting down to Carrie Fisher's final appearance as Leia.

While opinion was especially divided over the moment when it looked like Leia was about to be killed off, only for her to suddenly use the Force to Mary Poppins-esque effect, the real tearjerker moment came later: in her final reunion with her long-lost brother, Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker.

It's a simple scene which would have been poignant under any circumstances, but knowing it's the last time these two icons would share the screen takes things over the edge. Who among us isn't bawling by the time Luke says, "no one's ever really gone"?

Ben Bussey hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
