10. Wolverine And Sabretooth Fight In Every War (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)
20th Century FoxX-Men Origins: Wolverine is the most forgettable instalment of the X-Men franchise, but youd be forgiven for thinking otherwise on the basis of its thrilling opening montage. Wolverines nigh-immortality is a favourite theme of the films, and it had occasionally been played for laughs in the original film trilogy, but Origins decided to seize the opportunity to really toy with the concept. Thus were treated to a scene in which the invulnerable Logan and his brother Victor fight in every major conflict of the last 150 years. The historical accuracy may be questionable at best, but the scene is beautifully integrated with the opening credits and set to a suitably rousing theme. Theres also an undercurrent of black humour, which is particularly noticeable when both brothers face a firing squad, only for Victor to remind Logan to wake him up when its over. Unfortunately, after the awe subsided, it only remained for the audience to ask why exactly Origins threw away its chance to be a film about two immortal brothers and their warmongering and chose to be about adamantium amnesia bullets. Why was that?
