10 Epic Fantasy Movies You Probably Haven't Seen
3. The Fall
At first, The Fall plays more like a historical drama than a fantasy. A depressed stuntman in a Los Angeles hospital strikes up an unlikely bond with a young Romanian girl and tells her an epic story of courtship, misfortune, and swashbuckling adventures. His reasons for conjuring this tale, however, may be entirely self-serving.
The Fall did abysmally at the box-office, only raking in $3.7 million of its $30 million budget. However, The Fall is one of the best fantasy movies ever produced. The jaw-dropping cinematography showcase astonishing montages, vibrant cityscapes and ceremonies, and kaleidoscopic costumes. The outstanding adult and child performances are also worth noting, leading to some heart-breaking disasters as both the stuntman and girl fight for control over the story's outcome.
Including a blend of colourful historical and fictional characters such as Charles Darwin, Alexander the Great, an Italian demolitions expert, and a bird-filled Mystic, The Fall is a story that transcends time and space - a must-watch.
