10 Epic Movie Trailers That Set The Bar Too High
1. Predators
1987's Predator is an undisputed sci-fi classic. The subversive tale of Arnold Schwarzenegger verses a hostile alien hunter was met with solid feedback, but fans were kept waiting for a worthy follow-up.
Time after time, sequels and spin-offs either fell short or failed to capture the spirit of the first film. Predator 2 wasn't on the same level and the less said about the AVP movies the better. That is until 2010's Predators from Robert Rodriguez and Nimrod Antal showed up.
Judging by the trailer, everything was in the right place; Predators would return to the jungle setting, cast an array of talented actors in the lead roles and best of all, feature more than one alien monster to up the stakes. It was a flick loaded with potential, but ended up falling short in some areas.
While not a bad film by any means, Predators would squander many of its most interesting ideas and lean a tad too much towards replicating the first film. Many audiences felt tricked by the trailer, which showed Adrien Brody being targeted by many Predators as opposed to the three that appear in the final production. Ultimately, the film's efforts to finally give the fanbase what they wanted came undone, despite its best intentions.
