10 Epic Movie Villains That Were Teased (But Never Happened)

It goes without saying that movie studios want to give audiences every possible reason to anticipate the sequel to a film they just watched, and what better way to do it than with a comically blatant tease?

In an age where the Marvel Cinematic Universe has mastered the art of the post-credits scene, just about every major tentpole movie can't help but hint at the next film in the series, usually by nodding towards the presence of the next major villain.

But sadly this doesn't always work out, and for whatever reason, a promised, much-anticipated antagonist never gets their time to shine.

Whether due to unexpected commercial failure or a simple change in creative direction, these movies all hyped up exciting antagonists only to renege on that promise. In lieu, we either got a whole other villain entirely, or just a whole lotta nothing.

There's no guarantee that these antagonists would've been executed well, of course, but it's nevertheless a shame that fans had their expectations set and their hopes dashed shortly thereafter...
