10 Essential Movies Quentin Tarantino Demands You See

6. Dazed And Confused

There's a wonderful video of Quentin Tarantino introducing Dazed And Confused at the Texas Hall Of Fame Awards in 2013 where he recounts bumping into Richard Linklater at a midnight showing of Robert Altman's Nashville - being complete cinephiles the two became instant friends. Leaving aside their passion for dialogue, Tarantino and Linklater's movies couldn't be more different, but Dazed And Confused perhaps shares more in common with Tarantino's work than most. Here, Linklater's characters shoot the breeze with naturalisic dialogue much like those in Pulp Fiction are prone to rambling about seemingly inconsequential topics. "It's a real hang-out movie," Tarantino says of Dazed And Confused. "It goes beyond about being in the 70s, it goes beyond about being in Texas - it goes on to a human experience and those people have become my friends." If the rumours are accurate, Dazed And Confused fans will be revisiting these friends again some time soon.
