10 Essential Movies Quentin Tarantino Demands You See

5. Suspiria

Tarantino's biggest misstep in his career so far (although there will be some who will argue otherwise) is Death Proof, his homage to exploitation horror which was paired with Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror back in 2007. While it finished with a stunning car chase sequence, for many the excessively long scenes of dialogue leading up to this became tedious, lacking the vibrancy of his better films. While there's no sign of Tarantino tackling horror again any time soon, fans would be wise to check out one of his favourites of the genre, Dario Argento's Suspiria. Horror movies don't come as visually stylish as this - this is giallo horror at its most luridly grandiose. Other more obscure Italian horror gems such as Lucio Fulci's The Psychic sit amongst Tarantino's favourite horror movies, but it's hard to argue with his number one pick: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
