10 Essential Shows You Need To Watch On Disney+

1. The Mandalorian

Yes, you knew that this was coming, but Disney+'s flagship series really is that good.

Hailed as saving Star Wars after the disappointments of the Sequel Trilogy, The Mandalorian serves as a reminder of what everyone loves about Star Wars while moving the franchise forward.

Trading galactic struggles and interplanetary politics for a more personal approach, the show follows its titular Mandalorian as he strives to protect "The Child" (affectionately rechristened as "Baby Yoda" by adoring fans) from a syndicate of bounty hunters.

The series' episodic nature lends it a Saturday morning feel the high stakes movie series never quite captured, and while each episode largely follows its own individual adventure, the overall story arc will keep you coming up for more.

The show takes a while to get started (the first couple of episodes are the weakest of the bunch) but it's well worth the investment for fans new and old alike. Unlike the Sequel Trilogy, which leaned heavily on existing mythos and lore, The Mandalorian is accessible even for those who have never watched a Star Wars movie, and doesn't suffer at all for its minimal connections to the Skywalker Saga.

That doesn't mean it isn't without its fan service, though, and there's plenty of props here to keep fans of the Original Trilogy (and the Prequels!) satisfied.
