10 Essential Superman Villains Not Yet Used In The Movies
The fact these villains haven't appeared is completely Bizarro.
For a character as rich as Superman, it's actually quite surprising that his rogues' gallery remains largely untapped on the big screen. Barring Lex Luthor, General Zod and a rather unconvincing Doomsday in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, no other Superman villain has made their full cinematic bow (animated adaptations aside).
It's a weird situation for the Man of Steel, as although he's only rivalled for villains by Batman, Flash and Spider-Man, filmmakers have been reluctant to mine his universe fully. Why this is the case, exactly, is still unclear, but in navigating the particular preeminence of Lex Luthor, it looks as though his other bad guys are considered something of a risk, irrespective of their perceived popularity on the page.
But one thing all Superman fans know is that there's a veritable roster of evil characters waiting to be tapped on the silver screen. They've appeared in the comics, the animated shows and films, and really, a live-action depiction for most shouldn't be too far away from happening. The DCEU is, after all, somewhat lacking in the 'convincing villains' department, and Superman's villains can change that.
