10 Even More Insane Over The Top Horror Movies

Based on Junji Ito's manga of the same, Uzumaki revolves around a curse that befalls a Japanese town, causing an ordinary man, Toshio Saito, to obsess over spirals.

As far as curses go, that doesn't sound too bad. At first, all Toshio does is study vortexes and make whirlpools in his soup. However, Toshio becomes so overwhelmed by his addiction, he contorts his body into a spiral, breaking every bone in his body.

While that in itself sounds surreal, things only get worse when Toshio's wife slices off her fingertips and hair, fearful the spiral patterns will consume her. As the curse spreads through the town, people start transforming into giant snails with spiral shells, and whether the inhabitants embrace the spiral or hide from it, nearly everybody meets a terrible fate.

What elevates the tension further is the constant sense of inescapable dread. It's not specified where this curse originated from, nor is there a way to remove it. As a result, the characters are forced to watch everybody they know and love be swallowed up by this hex, knowing they'll probably meet the same fate in the near-future.
