10 Even More Movies With Ridiculously Subtle Foreshadowing

2. Twin Birds - The Prestige

The Godfather Foreshadowing
Warner Bros. Pictures

One of Christopher Nolan's more underrated works is The Prestige, a sublime tale that pitted two rival magicians against each other in Hugh Jackman's Robert Angier and Christian Bale's Alfred Borden. One of the best and most ingenious aspects was the foreshadowing of Borden's story.

The reality behind Borden's teleportation act was that he had a twin brother, with whom he shared his identity and who allowed him to perform seemingly impossible feats of wonder. However, things took a much darker turn when his brother took the fall for him when he was sentenced to death.

This was cleverly foreshadowed much earlier in the film when Borden performed a trick with a bird in front of a child. Though the bird was seemingly crushed, the magic was that it was actually perfectly fine. This was in truth a completely different bird switched in for the one that had been legitimately killed, eerily similar to how Borden was unscathed as his twin died.
