10 Even More Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed

2. Star Wars: New Jedi Order

When Disney acquired the rights for Star Wars, it was the biggest news story in the entertainment industry. But after repeatedly mishandling the mega-IP, Disney has gotten some serious cold feet. In fact, the House of Mouse hasn't released a Star Wars feature in five years.

With interest in the formally unstoppable franchise ebbing away, Star Wars desperately needs a win - which brings us to the next feature to take place in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars: New Jedi Order.

As the title suggests, the plot centres around Rey forming her own community of Force-wielders 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. That's not much to go on, but New Jedi Order is already drenched in doubt. After the Disney sequels left a bad taste in everyone's mouth, it's difficult for anyone to remain hopeful. Not only will this entry have to tell a powerful and inventive story to win back its fanbase, it needs to rectify the most hated aspects of the previous instalments (including the fact Rey is Palpatine's granddaughter).

Then there's the director. Though Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is a two-time Oscar winner, the bulk of her work is focused on documentaries. Save for two episodes of Miss Marvel, she's never worked on a mainstream property. With her limited experience in massive productions, it's baffling why Obaid-Chinoy was handed the reins to Disney's most valuable commodity.

Star Wars may not be dead, but it's definitely on life support. If New Jedi Order is another bust, it's hard to imagine how George Lucas' creation can get back on top.
