10 Everyday Things You Can't Do Without Thinking Of Movies

7. Thinking Of Jack Nicholson In A Few Good Men Whenever Anyone Asks You To Tell Them The Truth

1992's A Few Good Men features one of the greatest courtroom scenes in cinematic history. When self-satisfied U.S. Navy lawyer Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise) finally gets Colonel Nathan R. Jessup (Jack Nicholson) on the stand things come to a head quite epically. After a few minutes of going back and forth Jessup asks if the smug lawyer is indeed looking for answers. Well not exactly, he's looking for the truth which prompts the iconic reply "You can't handle the truth!". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FnO3igOkOk Now, we have all at one point or another told a flat-out lie to someone. It happens. Perhaps you lied on your taxes or you lied to your wife after she asked you if she looked fat (the answer is always NO by the way). Due to the fact that we are generally an untrusting species we tend to feel the need to remind people to tell us the truth whenever we ask them an important question. Of course, our stock response is usually letting them know that they indeed would not be able to handle the truth for which they seek.
