4. Because I Said So - Diane Keaton

Old Dogs John Travolta
Universal

Even if she never appears in another good movie, there's no discounting the many great performances Diane Keaton has given us over the decades.

But since the turn of the century, Keaton's sadly had desperately little worthwhile to offer her fans, appearing in only a sporadic number of projects, none of which have made the most of Keaton's dramatic or comedic chops.

The straw that broke the camel's back, however, was 2007's rom-com Because I Said So, starring Keaton as an infuriatingly overbearing mother trying to find a partner for her youngest daughter (Mandy Moore).

Making Diane Keaton unlikeable is an extremely challenging task, and yet this movie pulls it off with enthusiastic aplomb. It's a portrayal that's in the very least annoying, if not an insulting stereotype of the bored, middle-aged woman.

Either way, every single film Keaton has starred in since has been cut from a similar mould: critically panned, low-effort frothy dramedy nonsense. What a waste.
