The Sound Of Music
Warner Bros. Pictures

Yes, the first Harry Potter film isn’t considered the best one of the movie series. The Philosopher’s Stone is far from a bad viewing but it simply lacks the complexity and depth that the later movies were fruitful with.

However, being the first of the franchise, it’s where the magic began. Prior to its cinematic release, avid Potterheads had built up their own imagination of what the magical school of Hogwarts would look like. With J.K Rowling’s captivating fantasy novels coming to life in cinema, viewers had very high expectations.

Suffice to say, the movie did not disappoint. With impressive cinematography, Chris Columbus’ adaptation remained mostly loyal to the source material. But the specific moment which made audiences fall in love with the movie franchise was when Hogwarts was revealed. It’s a grand, mysterious place that fans have only envisioned for themselves. Seeing the building in the flesh as well as what the interior looked like, it was the second that truly kickstarted our love for Harry Potter and the wizardly world.
