2. Cursed M.O.D.O.K. - Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania

Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania was a crushing disappointment for many reasons, though the point at which its throw-everything-at-the-wall approach finally wore people out? The unmasking of M.O.D.O.K.

Shortly after the iconic comic book villain is introduced, it's revealed that he's actually none other than Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll) from the first Ant-Man.

Rather than dying when Scott (Paul Rudd) sabotaged his suit, he survived and his proportionally warped remains were eventually discovered by Kang (Jonathan Majors), who gave him a robotic suit.

The actual idea of this isn't bad at all, but the moment M.O.D.O.K. removes his mask and we see Corey Stoll's uncanny valley CGI face squashed into the suit, it becomes impossible to take seriously.

Even accepting that M.O.D.O.K. is a fundamentally ridiculous character, between his hideous visual design and the running gag where everybody calls him Darren, it genuinely felt like somebody involved with the movie had a deep-seated hate for the character.
