10 Exact Moments We Knew Horror Movie Characters Were Doomed To Die

2. Shaun Of The Dead - David Tries To Shoot Shaun

While Shaun of the Dead is a horror-comedy, its final third is very much steeped in the former half of that sub-genre. With zombies taking over London and our survivors - consisting of ringleader Shaun, girlfriend Liz, the cowardly David, his secret admirer Di and total buffoon Ed - trapped in a pub, things very quickly look doomed.

Tensions exacerbate - whatever that means - when Shaun is forced to kill his zombified mother. In response, David callously quips to Shaun that it was the right thing to do, only to receive a smack in the face. On the floor, David picks up a gun, and goes to shoot Shaun... only to realise it's out of ammo.

At this point, you know he's gone too far. In that moment he tried to kill the hero in front of all his friends, and even though he was unable to, the intent was still there. Once he starts scrambling and apologising in front of an easily-smashed window, you know there's no coming back.

Even then, seeing him ripped apart by the horde still doesn't seem like justice enough.
