10 Excellent Actors Everyone Takes For Granted

6. Hugh Dancy

Interestingly enough, both Hugh Dancy and his wife, Homeland star Claire Danes, were originally going to make this list (we eventually decided that Danes, the formerly overlooked actress, now gets enough buzz from Homeland as befits her station as an Emmy winner). But Hugh Dancy...he's another story. Even now that he has a hit television show in Hannibal, he still plays second fiddle to Mads Mikkelsen's electrifying performance as the titular cannibal. He's been thanklessly starring in generally pretty good films, turning in generally pretty good performances, for nearly twenty years. Dancy's a more than capable actor, so why hasn't he been able to break into the A list? Why do we just take him for granted as that guy who's always up for a nice period drama? Maybe he just hasn't found the one film that will give him that extra little push over the cliff into stardom. Hopefully, as Hannibal builds up more of a following, he'll start to get a little more attention.
