10 Excellent Actors Everyone Takes For Granted

3. Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts is just a sold, reliable actor who doesn't seem to get caught up in all the drama of Hollywood. She has a stable home life with husband Liev Schreiber (who, now that we think about it, would probably fit this list as well), she does a few films a year, and seems remarkably well-adjusted. But that's boring, right? We want to see the actors who starve themselves for roles, the ones who spend a month in a wheelchair to get into the mindset of playing a paraplegic, because that fits into our notion of what a serious actor does. Naomi Watts, by contrast, picks consistently interesting projects, but approaches them from a more traditional acting perspective. People who approach acting as a job rather than a mystical calling to perform tend to get less credit for their work, but they're oftentimes much more consistent. We've seen tremendous work from her over the past twenty years, and she's still going strong. Despite the fact that she looks rather fragile, she comes off on-screen as surprisingly resilient, as we see in one of her best work in recent years as the matriarch of a family fighting to survive after the Boxing Day Tsunami in The Impossible. Just don't mention Diana. Actually, can we just forget that happened?
