10 Most Exciting Films Premiering At Toronto Film Festival 2014

7. A Little Chaos

What It's About: An eccentric female landscape gardener (played by Kate Winslet) is hired to design a fountain at the Palace of Versailles. She struggles to navigate her way through the politically dramatic court of Louis XIV, and she despite the fact that her artistic style could not be further from the classical designs proposed by the enigmatic architect who hired her, she becomes fascinated by him. Alan Rickman both directs and co-stars as Louis XIV, the Sun King. Why You Should Be Excited: A Little Chaos has been awarded the closing night gala spot, a prestigious position that poises a film to get a lot of attention. They wouldn't put it there if they didn't think this movie was going to be big. It's the first time Alan Rickman has directed in film in nearly 20 years, his last being 1997's The Winter Guest, so we're all eager to see what he'll do behind the camera. When you've got tried and true stars like him and Kate Winslet (in addition to the marvelous supporting cast including Stanley Tucci, Jennifer Ehle, and Matthias Schoenaerts), you're more or less guaranteed an interesting film, at the very least.
