10 Most Exciting Films Premiering At Toronto Film Festival 2014
6. Une Nouvelle Amie (The New Girlfriend)
What It's About: This French film is about a woman who becomes depressed after the death of her best friend Lea. While she's dealing with her emotional issues, she learns a secret about her best friend's husband which gives her a new lease on life. Why Should You Be Excited: So maybe you think that French films aren't exactly your cup of tea. But this one just might be. For one, it's being directed by François Ozon, a director who has received international acclaim for his films and is regarded as one of the most important figures of the new "New Wave" movement in French cinema. It stars Romain Duris, a charming and intelligent actor who has always seemed to have a knack for picking interesting projects. This will mark their first collaboration, and we're eager to see what it yields.
Audrey Fox is an ex-film student, which means that she prefers to spend her days in the dark, watching movies and pondering the director's use of diegetic sound. She currently works as an entertainment writer, joyfully rambling about all things film and television related.
