10 Most Exciting Films Premiering At Toronto Film Festival 2014
2. The Riot Club
What It's About: The Riot Club is a fictionalized version of the Bullingdon Club, Oxford University's infamously exclusive society with a reputation for trouble-making, which counts among its former members King Edward VII, King Edward VIII, and Prime Minister David Cameron. The film is based on the popular play Posh, and revolves around a privileged young man who is invited to join the debaucherous group. Why You Should Be Excited: It's hard to imagine a greater ensemble of up-and-coming British actors than the one featured in The Riot Club. The film stars Max Irons, who is the son of famous thespian Jeremy Irons and impressed us with his performance as King Edward IV in The White Queen. Also appearing in the film are Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones), Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), and Douglas Booth (Romeo and Juliet). The play helped launch the careers of several young actors (both Kit Harrington and Tom Mison appeared in the original production) and while the film features actors who are a bit more established, hopefully this film will catapult them to even greater heights.
