As one of the most highly-anticipated blockbusters in recent memory, The Dark Knight Rises needed to start off with a bang. On paper, it looks similar to the Joker's introduction in the Dark Knight in the fact that the main villain hides in plain sight in order to execute his planned heist, but the hijacking of the plane serves as both a thrilling set-piece and an introduction to the mental and physical capabilities of Tom Hardy's Bane. After a brief exchange with Aiden Gillen's CIA agent, Bane makes his intentions clear. This is when the scene really moves into high gear, with Hans Zimmer's pulsating score kicking in as a team of mercenaries descend from a second plane and execute their meticulous plan. As well as providing an exciting opening, the scene also establishes the lengths Bane will go to in order to get what he wants as well as the dedication of those who follow him.
