6. Becoming Spider-Man - The Amazing Spider-Man
Sony PicturesWith a mostly memorable trilogy before it, the Spider-Man reboot often fails in the more substantial appeals. The individual stories seem less solid, and the re-trekking and recreating of a canon everyone already knows can't be anything more than redundant. Still, those opinions don't change the clever structure and execution of Peter developing his powers and persona in this montage. Perhaps it is because the audience knows what's coming that makes it exciting as we see him make a costume, develop the web-shooters, and test his abilities around the city. From this point, the final sequence of a swinging POV shot gladly welcomes the final version of Spider-Man (at least for this film) in a triumphant appearance. The shot of this version above the city prepares the audience as well as the character for a story on an entirely different level than anything we've seen previously in the film. Much like the Green Goblin fight in the first Spider-Man movie, the scene raises the bar from an ordinary person to a spectacular superhero.
