Sony PicturesThe construction of the Sandman could be more of an artistic triumph rather than an exciting piece, but the beauty of the sequence and its mastery of CGI is a remarkable set-up for the scope of Spider-Man 3 that cannot be anything other than exciting. The gradual piecing of the sand fragments into a solid man based on the power of personal motivation is an inspirational work and not only because it took three years to construct. The story, character, and score somehow keeps the audience invested in an action-less sequence in the midst of a massive superhero film. While the film does not really reach the emotional and visual appeal of this moment, the sequence is an early piece that ensures the audience's attention for the rest of the movie if only for the visual marvels that could appear. The arrival of a villain is always an interesting turn of events in a comic book movie, but this scene is probably the greatest arrival of them all.
