10 Facts About The Iconic James Bond Film Gadgets

1. The DIY Flamethrower - Live And Let Die

This film required Bond to take on a number of non-human predators, from a bask of crocodiles to a Speckled Kingsnake. The gadget at the top of the list was used on one of his slithery opponents when it tried to take the MI6 agent down while he was freshening up in his private bathroom.

The snake is released into his room via an air vent and can be seen as it makes its way over to the agent. Luckily 007 is quick to realise he is no longer alone in his bathroom, and he fashions a flamethrower using an aerosol aftershave and his cigar.

The scene gives viewers an alternative perspective of one of their favourite agents as he uses natural instinct to take down an enemy, not one of Q's many gadgets. The small act of quick-wit does so much for Bond's reputation and displays his ability to keep a cool head in every kind of situation.

This interpretation remains true until you look into the type of snake that was used for the scene. Kingsnakes are actually relatively harmless as the worst you would get from them is a small hickey on your ankle or arm.
