10 Facts You Probably Didn't Know About Hogwarts

4. No Electronic Devices

You've all been there at high school, as the latest student gets out their phone in class to text their friends, only for it to be confiscated by the teacher present, the student being just a little too slow to put it away in time.

Teens of today carry them around in their hands throughout the day to find out the latest gossip. We use phones every day for every thing in the present. In Hogwarts however, this is not allowed.

In fact, all electronic devices are banned from the entire school premises and grounds, leaving the students no option but to write or receive a letter by owl. It is said that the high levels of magic going on within the school messes with any electronic device that might be there, even computers and radars. Who would want a phone anyways when you've got magic, right?

The only exception to the device rule is radios - formed specially to work just like a muggles. They work purely because they are of magic imitation, rather than the real thing, and used for communication in emergencies or staff use. Sometimes an owl may be a little too slow for an emergency.
