10 Failed Movie Castings That Were A Blessing In Disguise

9. Anne Hathaway As Tiffany In Silver Linings Playbook

When Jennifer Lawrence was cast as Tiffany in David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook, few ever imagined that she would take home the Best Actress award at that year's Academy Awards.

Yet, anyone who had the joy of watching her intimate and conflicted performance in the role, will have attested to the then 22 year-old having fully deserved the acclaim that came her way.

However, the role that established her as a serious leading actor could have very nearly ended up on another rather talented performer's CV.

Anne Hathaway, off the back of the 2011 British romantic-tragedy, One Day, had been picked as first choice for the character by shamed movie mogul, Harvey Weinstein.

Turning down the part - creative differences being cited - Hathaway would go on to star in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises as Selina Kyle and Tom Hooper's Les Miserables as Fantine - a role that would bag her a Best Supporting Actress Award at the following years ceremony.

The two actors came away with an Oscar win each, so count this one as an overwhelming blessing for both parties involved.
