10 Fake-Out Movie Deaths Nobody Believed

8. Now You See Me - Jack

The Dark Night Jim Gordon Gary Oldman

2013's terrible heist thriller Now You See Me is a film built around illusions and twists; one such twist is Jack (Dave Franco) faking his death in a car accident while being pursued by FBI agent Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo). He returns at the end of the film to help out with the film's climactic heist and reunites with his bank robber/magician colleagues (Jesse Eissenberg, Woody Harrleson and Isla Fisher).

This was a badly-executed fake death, since Jack's 'death' was very hard to buy. It felt highly random, left-field and carried no weight whatsoever, with none of Jack's allies even looking that bothered about it. Since it felt so inconsequential at the time, it immediately seemed like another twist in a film full of them.

As well as this, Jack and his colleagues are magicians who pull off illusions and trucks all the time, so faking Jack's death wasn't exactly hard for them to do.
