10 Fake-Out Movie Deaths Nobody Believed

9. Spy - Bradley Fine

The Dark Night Jim Gordon Gary Oldman
20th Century Fox

In this hilarious spy comedy, Jude Law fills plays a suave, bad-ass James Bond-esque character named Bradley Fine, who works with Melissa McCarthy's protagonist. Early on in the film, he is apparently killed by Rose Byrne's antagonist, but he later returns. It appears he faked his death and is her ally. No surprises there.

One of the film's big stars dying so early on just felt awfully fishy and was hard to believe, while Spy is also a clever send-up of various spy-movie tropes and back-from-the-dead reveals like this are reasonably common in the genre.

Still, there is a bit of surprise when it turns out Bradley isn't a villain after all and is trying to infiltrate the main villain's organisation, so at least writer-director Paul Feig still had a trick up his sleeve.
