10 Family-Friendly Movies With Ridiculously High Body Counts

5. Pearl Harbour

Body count: 153 Whereas Steven Spielberg quite rightly went down the R rated route for his depiction of the horrors of war, Saving Private Ryan (body count: 255), Michael Bay and Disney were far more interested in getting as much money out of punters as possible, so toned their awful but lucrative piece of propaganda down to a PG-13. The official body count for Pearl Harbour stands at 153 but if you were to include all the people we can assume died in exploding planes, buildings, ships and other vehicles the count would be much higher (around 3,000 people died during the attack, so the on-screen carnage is comparatively restrained). Ironically, another Michael Bay action movie aimed very much at an older (if not necessarily mature) audience is Bad Boys II, in which Martin Lawrence and Will Smith only manage to kill 21 bad guys in a film where just 63 people die.
