10 Family Movies With Mind-Blowingly Questionable Morals

8. The Hunger Games

the-hunger-games-header So admittedly the books were never meant to be for younger children. But even so, this is dark stuff for a 'family' film. Back in 2000 when Battle Royale came out, I wasn't allowed to watch it. Admittedly I don't think I expressed much desire to watch it. I was 8, and my knowledge of Japanese cinema was sadly lacking. But the point is I wouldn't have been allowed to have watched it even if I'd have wanted to. But how many 8 year olds will have watched The Hunger Games? And The Hunger Games is a remarkably similar film to Battle Royale. Of course there are differences (The Hunger Games is far less graphic), but essentially both films turn Lord of the Flies style survival into a game. And what's worse is that this game is for the enjoyment of adults. And if the exploitation of children for the enjoyment of adults isn't morally questionable then I don't know what is.
