10 Famous Actor Pairings You Didn't Realise Hated One Another In Real Life

3. William Shatner & George Takei - Star Trek

The sci-fi franchise and its stars surely need no introduction, but even though the Original Series€™ U.S.S. Enterprise has not been exploring strange new lands for decades, the feud between her captain and helmsman, portrayed by William Shatner and George Takei respectively, is alive, well, and (boldly) going nowhere. The differences between the two have surfaced and resurfaced, despite claims of reconciliation, repeatedly over the 45 years since the Original Series was on air, thanks to, according to Takei, Shatner€™s €œdouchiness." Takei, along with other Star Trek co-stars, has had a turbulent filming relationship with the apparently self-possessed, self-absorbed and self-involved Shatner. The two, it seems, have been setting phasers to €œdisintegrate€ for years, not at all pulling their punches in this drawn-out, melodramatic feud. Takei has repeatedly and publicly criticized Shatner€™s ego, prima donna behaviour, and penchant for hogging the limelight, stating that Shatner would regularly stop filming to suggest the camera be focused on him pretty much at all times. On his part, Shatner has called Takei psychotic and sick, and utterly dismissed his criticisms by claiming that he barely knew Takei since his role on Star Trek was so minor. Oh my, indeed.
