10 Famous Actors Who Inexplicably Popped Up In Found Footage Movies

10. Zach Gilford (Devil€™s Due)

Among the myriad of cinematic sins that Devil€™s Due commits, the casting of Zach Gilford as (who else?) Zach, the-father-to-be-of-Satan€™s-seed, can hardly be deemed its worst offense. That doesn€™t change the fact, however, that even if Devil€™s Due were any good, Gilford€™s casting in the film would still be a mistake. Gilford€™s a fine actor, don€™t be mistaken. In Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett€™s movie he€™s tasked with playing the same character that has more or less come to define his entire career: that of the aloof-but-lovable-everyman, awkwardly toeing the thin line between teenagedom and adulthood. Yet within the confines of found footage, Gilford€™s familiar bumbling, stammering, and altogether discomfort with his own skin only serve to yank us out of the reality that the film is purportedly documenting, as time and time again you are reminded that, yes, that is Matt Saracen from Friday Night Lights. In casting Gilford as their likable lead, Olpin and Gillett inadvertently distract audiences from their own film. Which, considering Devil's Due's quality, might actually be a kindness on their part.
