10 Famous Actors Who Inexplicably Popped Up In Found Footage Movies

5. Miles Teller (Project X)

It€™s debatable whether Miles Teller€™s appearance in Nima Nourizadeh€™s 2012 found footage comedy (bet you didn€™t know those existed, huh?) Project X warrants being included on this list. On the one hand, in all fairness to Nourizadeh, Project X, though released in February 2012, was actually filmed back in summer 2010, a mere 4-5 months before Teller would go on to break out in that fall€™s much acclaimed Rabbit Hole. It€™s doubtful that Nourizadeh could have reasonably predicted the degree of attention that Rabbit Hole - and in particular, Teller's turn in it - would end up having. On the other hand, regardless of intent or desire on the filmmakers' parts, it€™s hard to deny that Teller€™s appearance in Project X isn€™t incredibly distracting, even in the relatively small role that he has as a college-age baseball prodigy with seemingly unbarred access to busloads of hot chicks whenever he desires. Amidst a sea of unknown faces, Teller€™s presence stands out like a sore thumb. It basically boils down to this: if you're judging Teller's presence in the movie purely on the rationale of whether or not those behind-the-scenes knew that Teller would soon be a recognisable face to mass audiences, then Teller's Miles is far from the most egregious example of a celebrity being cast in a found footage movie. However, if you're looking strictly at how much Teller€™s presence takes away from the film€™s overall effect, one has to admit that Teller€™s casting in Project X proves to be nothing less than fatal to the film's aims in maintaining faux-authenticity.
