10 Famous Actors Who Inexplicably Popped Up In Found Footage Movies
4. Adrian Pasdar (Home Movie)
Criminally under appreciated, director/actor Christopher Denhams Home Movie is utterly terrifying, a 76 minute demonstration in the art of building and sustaining dread. Filmed, as the title suggests, as a home movie, Denhams film is near perfect in the way that it manages to capture complex and unspoken familial mechanics. Alas, Home Movie is but near perfect. The choice to cast Adrian Pasdar as the films lead is puzzling enough as it is. Pasdar is an actor that excels in exuding slime and ego, not hugs and kisses. But then when one considers on top of this that Home Movie was released in 2008 - right smack dab in the middle of Heroes-mania - the puzzling quickly upgrades into the baffling. Even hidden underneath a beard, Pasdar cant shake his Heroes persona, and as a result, Home Movie loses a frustrating amount of its impact. Watching the film now, years removed from Heroes and all of the fanfare that accompanied it, Pasdars presence isnt quite as distracting, and in the wake of the dozens of far inferior found footage films that have been released after it, Home Movies raw perspective on the genre remains as refreshing as ever. Still, its hard not to think about what might have been" had a less distracting actor been chosen for Home Movies central role.
