10 Famous Actors Who Tried To Be Musicians (And Hilariously Failed)
9. William Shatner
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKo4FMzt_hM William Shatner's musical side-career is nothing if not original, you have to give him that. The actor's 1968 debut album The Transformed Man is (in)famous for mashing-up Shakespeare readings with music from the likes of The Beatles and Bob Dylan, all of which is delivered in the actor's famously robotic vocal register. The album has been the butt of jokes ever since its release, given the apparently self-serious nature of the recording, something which Shatner has nevertheless denied (likely so he can be seen as in on the joke rather than the subject of it). This spoken-word approach has formed the majority of Shatner's released music, though he has from time to time parodied himself on the likes of Family Guy and The Simpsons, and the age of viral video has allowed works such as his Bohemian Rhapsody cover (above) to become immensely popular in their own, ironic right. His output might prove more unintentionally hilarious (regardless of what Shatner says) than ear-splittingly awful, but it's really difficult to even describe his work as singing. It's more spoken-word poetry backed by music, and good only for the perverse comic value.
