10 Famous Actors Who Tried To Be Musicians (And Hilariously Failed)
3. David Hasselhoff
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ot_katYYiU How does one even define failure, because if it's primarily from a commercial standpoint, David Hasselhoff is anything but a failure. The Baywatch star has released almost 20 albums since 1985's Night Rocker (which charted at #1 in Austria), and even though his more recent work doesn't chart nearly as well, he's enjoyed a relatively strong level of popularity in Austria and Germany, while in the U.S. and beyond, his singing is viewed from a seemingly more ironic, mocking perspective. The perception that Hasselhoff simply couldn't sing was further made light of in 2006, when a campaign began in the UK to get his cover Jump in My Car to #1 in the charts, and astoundingly, it eventually charted in at #3, giving The Hoff his biggest UK hit to date. It's widely accepted that Hasselhoff's musical success in Germany can be attributed largely to releasing Looking for Freedom just as the Berlin Wall fell, yet for most of the world, he's seen as something of a comedy act, even if these days he claims to be in on the joke. So, Hasselhoff has made plenty of money from his music, but does that mean he hasn't spectacularly failed? For anyone other than The Hoff and bean-counting record execs, his work is hilariously bad.
