10 Famous Actors Who Turned Down Roles In Marvel Movies

7. Jason Momoa - Drax The Destroyer

He certainly has the build and humor for the role. What made Aquaman turn his back at a shot in the MCU? Again, the actor was worried about being pigeon-holed as someone who plays "brutish" characters.

Momoa was hot off the heels of playing similar characters in Stargate, Game of Thrones and Conan The Barbarian. In an interview with Zap2it, Momoa said, "I think it's perfectly cast. Dave [Bautista] is perfect for that role, for Drax. It didn't really fit in my time because I've done so many things where I don't say much and I'm colored up and I have my shirt off again. I made a conscious choice to turn down some movies that were action-based to direct 'Road to Paloma' so people could see that side."

While some actors on this list ended up kicking themselves for turning down Marvel roles, Momoa chose wisely. He, of course, landed the role of Aquaman across the street at DC/Warner Bros. No doubt, Momoa has the physique and humor to pull it off, but he's right. Dave Bautista was perfect for the role. No argument from us.
