Reason He Didn't Get The Role: Thought Bond Needed To Be British Uh, yeah... so Adam West, who we all know as the original "campy" Batman and the Mayor of Quahog in
Family Guy, was once offered the chance to play James Bond. I don't know about you, but that's the kind of revelation that causes me to do a couple of shocked backflips. Nowadays this kind of casting suggestion seems nuts, but even at the time he must've been a little bit nuts - have you seen the old Batman TV show, people? That aside, Adam West probably would have benefitted had he reconsidered his position here, given that his career hasn't exactly flourished since... well, ever, really. I mean, sure, he's having a great time playing a twisted version of himself on
Family Guy, but the man could have been Bond. Yes, he probably would have been a more flamboyant, Roger Moore-inclined Bond, but people like Moore's incarnation of Bond, too. I think. I've just never heard anyone say it, that's all.
