10 Famous Directors You Didn't Know Had Really Weird Fetishes
7. Stanley Kubrick Got His Kicks From "Meticulously Organised Boxes"
Stanley Kubrick is one of those immortal directors whose legacy has become a strange blend of fact and fiction; these days, it's hard to know which stories are actually true. One fact about Kubrick that is certainly inarguable, however, relates to his perceived obsession with perfectionism; his clamouring to attain a sense of organisation in his life and across the span of his motion picture exploits. Whilst there are many rumours about Kubrick that have been fabricated, it is true that he had a peculiar fetish for meticulously organised boxes. That is, boxes stacked neatly, their contents arranged precisely within. Weird as it is, having said boxes systematically assembled and catalogued brought him a sense of joy and relief like nothing else. It wasn't so much a preference of arrangement as it was a genuine passion for boxes of items conscientious organised. Indeed, there even exists a 2008 documentary entitled "Stanley Kubrick's Boxes" which touches on this specific subject in a lot more detail, as journalist Jon Ronson is given access to over 1000 of Kubrick's boxes following his untimely death.
