10 Famous Directors You Didn't Know Had Really Weird Fetishes

6. Tim Burton Has A Special Place For Tom Jones' "It's Not Unusual"

When you think of Tim Burton, chances are that you think of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and a career that has - in recent years - become both frustrating and bland in equal measure. What you're less likely to have noticed is Burton's weird fetish for a particular song - one he has opted to use time and time again in a number of his motion pictures. The song in question, then, is none other than Tom Jones' seminal '60s classic "It's Not Unusual," which is pretty much one of the greatest slices of musicana ever recorded (c'mon: it is!). Burton, however, has taken his love of this song to new extremes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwvNbAqcSpk Not only can "It's Not Unusual" be heard in the background during a scene in Edward Scissorhands, but Burton went as far as to actually cast Tom Jones in Mars Attacks! whereupon the Welshman proceeds to sings the song twice. It even plays over the end credits. It doesn't end there, though: the song can also be heard - albeit briefly - in Big Fish. What is heck is Burton's obsession with this particular track? When questioned, the director candidly admitted that he has "a weird adoration" for it. "It's Not Unusual?" Certainly is.
