The Matrix is still awesome...it's just ruined by its sequels). But then we're introduced to the Architect, the monster behind the machines, we have some silly dancing in an underground city, and Agent smith returns a hundredfold. The war rages on within the Matrix, while the machines invade the city of Zion. And then...well, we go back to square one and it kind of happens all over again...
WHY DID HE FAIL? Well, like old William Wallace, Neo doesn't make it out alive. Sure, the machines withdraw from Zion but there are literally millions of humans still plugged into the Matrix. The initial war might be over, but humanity isn't free. The war will likely happen all over again. Or at least we think. Was it even that clear?
