Like most movie curses, the Poltergeist curse is related to odd on-set incidents and the (usually untimely) deaths of those involved with the making of the film. But the Poltergeist curse seems to have gained more traction than any other movie curse to the extent an episode of the E! True Hollywood Story was dedicated to exploring it in 2002. The Poltergeist curse is noteworthy because it not only spans the original film but its two sequels as well. Dominique Dunne, who played Dana was strangled to death by a former abusive boyfriend in 1982. Julian Beck, the incredibly creepy Henry Cane from Poltergeist II: The Other Side died from stomach cancer a year after the film was released. His Poltergeist II co-star Will Sampson died a year later as a result of post-operative kidney failure. Most tragic of all was the death of Heather O'Rourke, the little girl who played Carol Anne in all three films. She died at the age of 12 during an operative to remove an acute bowel obstruction (that had been misdiagnosed). So what was said to be the cause all of this tragedy? Apparently, during a scene in the first movie they opted to use real skeletons instead of plastic ones. While it's hard to believe that any film is 'cursed', the events surrounding the Poltergeist series certainly make you think twice. Do you think any of these movies are actually cursed? Are there any other movies that everyone thinks are cursed? Share your thoughts in the comments.
